Whole-home audio, room by room

Music in the kitchen while you cook. A different playlist downstairs. The patio joining in when friends come over. IT Homes AV plans and installs multi-room audio around the rooms you use, with controls the household can understand.

We can add new zones or build around useful speakers and equipment you already own. Sonos is one option; the right system depends on the wiring, the rooms and how you want to listen.

What the system should do

Choose the rooms. Choose how they play.

  • Music in several rooms, with volume adjusted by zone
  • Rooms grouped together or playing independently where supported
  • Indoor and outdoor speakers on a planned system
  • App control, with keypads or other controls where appropriate
  • Existing speakers connected to compatible new equipment
  • Amplifiers and cables placed neatly with access for service

Whole-house or distributed audio means planning the system across rooms. A zone is simply a room or area you want to control together. We work out those choices before selecting the equipment.

Keep good speakers when practical

We check the speakers, cable runs and amplifier connections before recommending replacements. If the job is mainly adding or changing the speakers themselves, start with ceiling speaker installation and retrofit.

Give outdoor music its own plan

A deck or patio needs suitable speakers, sensible coverage and protected cable routes. We plan how it connects to the indoor system and how you will control it without turning up the whole house.

Check the network as well

Streaming music relies on the network. We review connections and coverage as part of setup, and can address home networking and Wi-Fi problems that affect reliability.

A supported option

Sonos installation and setup

We can set up Sonos equipment, connect compatible speakers through suitable amplification, and help you manage rooms in the app. That can mean starting with equipment you own, adding another room or incorporating existing ceiling speakers.

A Sonos Amp can be useful with passive speakers, but the speaker load, wiring and number of independently controlled zones matter. We check those details before recommending how many amplifiers the system needs.

IT Homes AV has operated in Calgary since 2005. Our job is to explain the options, install what fits and show you how it works.

The next step

Tell us where you want music

You do not need an equipment list to start. Tell us which rooms matter, whether you want different music in each, and what you already have. We assess the wiring and network, explain the options, then install, label and test the agreed system.

If you have just moved into a house with several unfamiliar systems, our existing-system assessment can help identify more than the audio equipment.

Before you book

Multi-room audio and Sonos questions

Can different rooms play different music?

Yes, with equipment and sources that support independent zones. We plan which rooms should operate separately and which can share music, then show you how to group rooms and adjust their volume.

Can you install or set up Sonos equipment I already own?

Yes. We check the models, connections and network, then explain what can work together. We can help with setup, room grouping and compatible speaker connections without assuming everything needs replacing.

Can a Sonos Amp run my existing ceiling speakers?

It may be suitable. We check speaker impedance, wiring and how many speakers would connect to each amplifier. The number of independent rooms you want also affects the design; one amplifier does not automatically provide separate control for every room.

Does every room need its own equipment?

Not necessarily. Passive speakers can connect by cable to amplifiers in a central location. Other systems use powered speakers in individual rooms. We plan a layout around the rooms, wiring and equipment you want to keep.

Can the patio play the same music as the kitchen?

Yes, a compatible system can group indoor and outdoor zones or operate them separately. Outdoor speakers, cable routes and equipment locations need to suit exposure and how you use the space.

Will new speakers fix music that keeps dropping out?

Not necessarily. Streaming interruptions can come from the network, connections or equipment configuration. We check those before recommending speaker replacement.
